Yoga Retreat : El Cuyo, Mexico
Yoga Retreat
In El Cuyo Mexico
El Cuyo is a beach lovers dream. The tourists haven’t heard about it yet so you’ll have the beach and the town to yourself for the most part (shhhhhhhh) and the calm waters in the morning make it perfect for heading out on the flat waters to glide on your Standup Paddleboard or kayak or to just go for a beautiful morning stroll along the edge of the clear, emerald waters. We will practice yoga daily in our beachfront studio and our adorable guesthouse is steps from the sea making it the perfect escape to rest, reset, and rejuvenate! The perfect balance of doing and restoring. We’ve included all the highlights of the area plus a pampering massage with our local healer plus a mud ceremony in front of the sea.
Wild virgin beaches at your front door; open-air yoga practices with a view; delicious local cuisine to nourish the body; connection with nature to nourish the soul. Round out your days with an adventure into these Mayan lands. Explore the amazing pink lagoons of Las Coloradas, visit flamingos in their natural habitat, check out the town by bike, hop on a SUP or a kayak early morning when the sea is still to glimpse those first morning rays of sunshine peaking over the horizon. Learn how to make tamales, sip margaritas, bask in the sunshine and swim in the Emerald Coast. Our optional day trip into the Yucatan Peninsula will take us to the colonial city of Valladolid, the ruins of Ek Balam and a breathtaking cenote to cool off after a day of exploring. We have our incredible massage therapist with us to offer a healing massage in our open air studio and we wrap it all up with a mud ceremony to cleanse and refresh your body and soul.
El Cuyo has our hearts and the world is starting to tune in. Come experience this unspoiled paradise before the droves hit!

Yucatán Yoga Retreat : Beach, History & Nature
in El Cuyo, Mexico
If you’re looking for a secluded beach yoga retreat in Mexico, look no further than this incredible offering in El Cuyo. This tiny fishing village located on the edge of the Yucatan peninsula is home to virgin beaches, flamingos, turtles, dolphins, countless birds and tons of sea life. Calling it paradise is not enough…the wild palm trees and dunes reach up to the edge of the sea while the gentle waves crash at the white sandy shore. A plethora of stunning seashells line the beach and you can walk for miles without any disruptions but the kite boarders gliding by on the breeze.
We are trying our best to keep this special spot under the radar and enjoy it as long as possible before the tourist droves hear about its charms and come to find out what all the fuss is about. El Cuyo is believed to be the last hidden treasure on the Gulf of Mexico. Please keep your lips sealed as much as you can but come join us to live this amazing paradise while it lasts.
El Cuyo is located in the Río Lagartos nature reserve, between Holbox Island and the famous pink lagoons of Las Coloradas. It’s a quick and easy drive from Cancun airport but far enough away to really relax and take in the beach life. Your days will be spent lounging by the sea, experiencing nature at its finest and reconnecting with your inner self on your yoga mat by the sea. We can’t think of a better way to spend your retreat.

Yucatán Yoga Retreat : Beach, History & Nature
Travel Tips:
Fly into Cancun International airport (CUN). Please note that Cancun is in the state of Quintana Roo and El Cuyo is in the state of Yucatan. There is a time difference of 1 hour in the winter months for WINTER DAYLIGHT SAVINGS. Please make sure to double check the time zones well as you plan your travel.
From Cancun Airport to El Cuyo, travel time is approximately 2.5 hours door to door. Our drivers are very safe and reliable and we can arrange transfers from the airport to our beach house if you like. Please send along your full flight details and we will try to pair you with others traveling on a similar schedule to and from the retreat. Pricing depends on how many are in the ride.
Taxis are not allowed to wait outside the Cancun International airport at arrivals so a transfer needs to be arranged for a private car service pick up in advance or there is a local bus that takes you to El Cuyo. For arriving on your own to El Cuyo by bus you’ll need to go from the airport in Cancun to the town of Cancun station and then from there to Colonia Yucatan and then from there, you’d grab a taxi to El Cuyo. To find out more details check out this site.
There are no ATMS in El Cuyo and everything is better paid in cash as most places do not accept credit cards. Please plan to take out cash in Mexican pesos at the airport ATM upon arrival, pre-order currency from your bank back home and bring it with you or exchange your currency at the airport for Mexican pesos. Some places accept credit cards but it’s always a better idea to have cash just in case. That said there is not a lot of shopping in El Cuyo as it is a quiet town with beach and chill. Cash tips for staff are appreciated
Wifi is not the most reliable and does come in and out at times along with the electricity though it is getting better. If it does go out it usually comes back fairly quickly and offers a nice chance to sit back and relax and watch the stars. If you need super reliable internet please let us know to discuss this further. The idea is to unplug and be offline as much as possible.
There are no specialized stores and although there are a few pharmacies in the town if a specific drug is required, you would have to travel by car to the city of Tizimín about an hour away so please plan on bringing everything you might think you will need with you from home.
