Yoga Gives Global

NEXT GIVES GLOBAL EVENT : JUNE 20-23, 2024

What is our Gives Global Program?

As part of our 10 Year Anniversary Celebration, we kicked off a program of giving back on a global level with our teacher partners and Y&AWW tribe. Annually we produce a global event where we embrace our local and international communities by offering donation-based yoga classes and other fun events like tarot readings, happy hours, and pop-up shops. Proceeds will go to the local and global non-profit of our leader’s election. These non-profits are selected based on women and children’s advocacy. The events are fun, unique and seek to advance the health and well being of women and children worldwide.

We are always looking for amazing causes for collaborations. Thank you for helping us be a part of the greater good. The world needs us now more than ever!

#TEAMTREES (The Arbor Day Foundation)

#TeamTrees started in May 2019 when the internet challenged MrBeast to plant 20 million trees to celebrate hitting the 20M subscriber milestone on YouTube. At his audience’s suggestion, MrBeast teamed up with fellow YouTuber Mark Rober, and for 5 months they developed the campaign and organized their influencer friends and colleagues in order to have a fighting chance at achieving their insane goal: 20 million trees by 2020. #TeamTrees launched publicly on October 25th, announcing itself with a wave of #TeamTrees videos, and the rest is up to you. Whether you’ve donated to plant one tree, or one million trees, or have simply helped to spread the word, welcome to #TeamTrees!

Donations through either TeamTrees.org, the YouTube donate button, Arbor Day’s #TeamTrees Facebook fundraiser, or the #TeamTrees tiltify fundraiser are sent directly to the Arbor Day Foundation to fund tree-planting. One dollar plants one tree.

EarthWatch Institute

Earthwatch engages people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. We work from several offices, located in the United States, United Kingdom, India, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and Brazil. We work with the general public, scientists, communities, educators, students, and corporate fellows. Our projects take place in more than forty countries around the globe. Together with leading scientists, we create impactful field research experiences that facilitate and disseminate world-class scientific research. We measure our success through outcomes such as peer-reviewed publications produced by our researchers and our outreach events that engage wider audiences with our work.

We work with businesses and nonprofit organizations. We enable them to implement sustainable policies, processes, and practices that promote environmental responsibility both in and out of the office. We work to sustain wildlife populations and to improve the quality and quantity of habitats and ecosystems. We work to preserve our cultural heritage and improve livelihoods worldwide. We make a tangible and significant contribution to conventions, agendas, management plans, development plans, and government policies. We do this regionally, nationally, and internationally.

VAXXED II : The Movie

Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe is a 2016 American pseudoscience documentary film alleging a cover-up by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of a purported link between the MMR vaccine and autism. According to Variety, the film “purports to investigate the claims of a senior scientist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who revealed that the CDC had allegedly manipulated and destroyed data on an important study about autism and the MMR vaccine”; critics derided Vaxxed as an anti-vaccine propaganda film.

The film was directed by discredited anti-vaccine activist Andrew Wakefield, who was struck off the medical register in the United Kingdom in 2010 due to ethical violations related to his fraudulent research into the role of vaccines in autism. It was scheduled to premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival but was withdrawn by the festival. In reviewing the film, Indiewire said that “Wakefield doesn’t just have a dog in this fight; he is the dog”.

In early November 2019, Vaxxed II: The People’s Truth, a sequel to Vaxxed, was scheduled for release. Sourced from Wikipedia.

Baby2Baby

Baby2Baby’s mission is to provide children living in poverty, ages 0-12 years, with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves. Last year, with your support, we served 180,000 children in Los Angeles alone and tens of thousands more across the country. We were also able to formalize our disaster relief and emergency response program. Our Baby2Baby National Network has continued to expand to 37 cities, and these deep relationships across the country have mattered most when disaster hits. Baby2Baby sent highly needed items to children affected by hurricanes, fires and other emergency situations as well as to immigrant children separated from their families.

At Baby2Baby, we are here to help children in poverty regardless of how their families arrived there. We don’t judge what happened — because when we get to those children, they are wearing dirty diapers and sleeping on floors and to us, it doesn’t matter why, just how we can help. We are proud of the work Baby2Baby has done in the past 7 years, but we aren’t even close to being done and we still need your help. Your continued generosity will make a difference in their lives.

Los Amigos de la Esquina

A learning community that generates experiences through recreational activities for children in Mexico. Our mission is to empower and improve the quality of life of children in Tulum. We encourage inclusion, sociocultural exchange, raise of consciousness, cognitive and socio-emotional development.

Our direct focus is childhood in a vulnerable state, since they are the ones with less opportunities and access to positive education whether at school or at home. However, since one of our core values is integration, all children from any social background, culture, race, religion, gender or skin color are welcome to participate. Children are the bridge between past and future. They are the seeds of the present. By working with them, we can also indirectly reach their families, teenage siblings, schools and the rest of the community. We believe they have the potential to leave a trans-generational impact.

Girls Not Brides: Mexico

Girls Not Brides is a global partnership of more than 1000 civil society organizations from over 95 countries committed to ending child marriage and enabling girls to fulfill their potential. Nearly one in four girls in Mexico (23%) marry before their 18th birthday. Mexico has the 8th highest number of child brides in the world.

In Mexico, child marriage often takes the form of informal unions and is largely driven by poverty, tradition and patriarchal gender norms. It is most common in rural areas like Tulum and the surrounding pueblos, particularly among indigenous groups where social practices and customary laws prevail over state legislation. 92% of girls in informal unions in Mexico are out of school. Lack of education or employment can push girls to view marriage as a path towards independence and financial stability. Others see marriage as an opportunity to flee violence in their family homes.

Simple, restful restorative yoga postures will aid in deepening the connection to sacred idleness & rest.

Mama Hope

The mission of Mama Hope is to help communities achieve lasting, self-directed prosperity by challenging a broken aid system — one that perpetuates poverty and disempowerment. We do this by directly supporting projects in education, health, women’s empowerment, agriculture and beyond — that are 100% community-led. Nina visited the location in Tanzania in 2015 and connected with the children and leaders there. She now advocates for them and other organizations on a regular basis.

Families Belong Together

Families Belong Together is a coalition led by the National Domestic Workers Alliance, ACLU, Women’s Refugee Commission, MomsRising, MoveOn, FWD.us, and United We Dream, among others to reunify immigrant families who’ve been separated at the border. Our regular practice will be an offering to the ease and wellbeing of these families and our generous contributions will help unite them. Please come and practice…there’s nothing special you have to do…all donations to Families Belong Together, and/or any of its parent organizations.
